What is this “Brothership”? Most fraternities have their versions of “brotherhood”, “friendship”, “leadership”, “athletics”, “charity”, and “social” and some have famous alumni. These are all good aspects. But what the brothers in DELTA KAPPA EPSILON (known as “Dekes”) prove time and time and again is that a fraternity is more. Much more.

DELTA KAPPA EPSILON is one of the oldest college Greek-letter secret men’s social fraternities. Founded in 1844 at Yale, our traditions are timeless. We do not let any man join but must be of equal proportions “the scholar, the gentleman, and the jolly good fellow.”
In Edmonton, Alberta, the DELTA PHI Chapter established itself in 1932 as one of the most prominent fraternities and out of the ~1200 brothers, it has continued a lasting legacy of successful men in industry, academics, politics, and service who exert their influence and leadership around the globe.
Canadian Dekes from the seven chapters across the country are also well-connected, whether it be in Victoria, Vancouver, Burnaby, Winnipeg, Toronto, or Montreal, there are also Dekes in many other cities and you can always find a brother when you need one.
Our immense alumni involvement and widespread business network are rooted in tradition and genuine brotherly love. This bond extends beyond our university years, shaping our lives through shared experiences with our families and children who grow up together and continue their family’s legacy in the university Greek community.
From memorable vacations together and moments of support during times of sorrow to celebrations of personal victories, DELTA KAPPA EPSILON exemplifies a truly unique brotherhood. It embodies all facets of what “fraternity” stands for, embracing individuals from diverse backgrounds and uniting us in a lifelong brotherly connection.
Our secrecy is rooted in time-tested ancient wisdom and knowledge, builds trust and common bonds among the brothers no matter what age and no matter where you are from. Secrecy is an important and serious skill to learn in business and relationships and you know what? It’s fun!
“BROTHERSHIP” is more than brotherhood and friendship. It is exemplified by our motto “Friends, from the Heart, Forever“.
FOREVER. Not just a few years at university. For a lifetime. We mean it. For the man who is away from his own family and friends, DKE is another family of genuine friends that will last as long as your life lasts.
We seek men of an energetic character and moral deportment who desire a rich life within a vast supporting cast of brothers who bring out the best in each other.
“GREAT MEN GO DEKE!” Although smaller in total membership across North America compared to other fraternities, DKE’s rich history has greater accomplishment with more alumni honours and achievement than any other:
- Canadian businessmen, authors, ambassadors, sports figures, and political influencers in Alberta
- 5 U.S. Presidents
- 14 Medal of Honor Winners
- Over 50 U.S. Senators
- Over 140 U.S. House of Representatives
- Over 50 U.S. Governors
- More Olympic Gold Medal Winners than all fraternities combined.

“The Deke House”
11003 87 Avenue, Edmonton AB T6G 0X5, CANADA
Across the street from the U of A main campus, owned and managed by the DKE Housing Association, this house was opened in 1998 and has been the home to hundreds of students and hundreds of parties. It replaced an existing house purchased in 1986. Prior to that, Dekes have had their home at numerous houses along 87 Avenue. Parking available in the rear.

Every Autumn, the “Dekes” in Edmonton consider new members to become a lasting part of the brotherhood. As this process may seem quick for the brothers to get to know you to offer you an opportunity to join, this period is called “Rush”, and so you must attend many of the events listed below to be considered. WELCOME BACK PIG ROAST BBQ AND DUNK TANK FOR CHARITY – Tue. Sep. 1, 2:00 – 10:00 PM at the Deke House. Free beer too.
PITCH AND PUTT – Wed. Sep. 2, 4:00 PM at the Deke House then we’ll head over to the Kinsmen Pitch and Putt a few minutes away.

The GOALS of DKE
The objects of Delta Kappa Epsilon are the cultivation of general literature and social culture, the advancement and encouragement of intellectual excellence, the promotion of honorable friendship and useful citizenship, the development of a spirit of tolerance and respect for the rights and views of others, the maintenance of a gentlemanly dignity, self-respect, and morality in all circumstances , and the union of stout hearts and kindred interests to secure to merit its due reward.

This website is the news and events portal for all duly initiated and recognized active and alumni members of the Delta Kappa Epsilon Fraternity residing in or visiting Alberta.
In Alberta, the Delta Phi Chapter of Delta Kappa Epsilon consists of several dozen young men as active students at the University of Alberta. The Chapter is continually and strongly supported by hundreds of alumni spanning various age groups, backgrounds, and professions.
As of August, the Chapter is now considering those university students so qualified to join its ranks. Visit www.dekerush.net to learn about the fraternity in general, famous alumni, what we do, who we are, and how to become a “Deke”.
